Empowering Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities through The Arc of Houston

$225 towards $10,500

My daughter, Abigail, was born with a brain condition called hypoplasia—or partial agenesis—of the corpus callosum. This part of the brain connects the two hemispheres, and hers is underdeveloped. For Abby, this condition has led to difficulties in communication and understanding others, as well as reduced intellectual capacity. Despite these challenges, she works hard every day, attends therapy to improve her speech and self-control, and has made amazing progress. She’s even learned to ride a bike, which she loves! One of her favorite activities is biking to therapy while collecting aluminum cans to recycle.

To raise awareness and support for individuals like Abby, my brothers and I are cycling from Houston to New Orleans in the Tour du Rouge. This event is organized by The Arc of Houston, a nonprofit that provides crucial services and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. All donations go directly to The Arc.

The mission of the organization is to build a future of inclusive work, play, and community for everyone. Please join us in making a difference. Every donation, no matter how small, will help us support The Arc and its mission to create real change.

Together, we can help individuals like Abby thrive. Thank you for your support!
